In Memoriam: Mike Sapien

January 19, 1953 – April 29, 2020

Mike Sapien, a founding member of the Outreach for Nazareth Orphanage (OFNO) Board of Directors, died on April 29, 2020, after a short illness.  Mike was one of three original volunteers from St. Elizabeth Seton Church, in 2008, who coordinated day trips to Nazareth Orphanage, Tecate֜, Mexico.  Motivated by his Christian faith, selfless in his entrepreneurial spirit, Mike offered his time, talent and treasure for the health and wellbeing of the orphans and the Sisters who care for these boys and girls.

Mike was born in Santa Monica, California, graduated from Loyola High School and obtained his Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.  He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Nicole; son, Brendan and three grandchildren – Shane, Zeke and Sloane.  Mike was a kind and warm man who leaves behind many friends and admirers, as well.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Outreach for Nazareth Orphanage, a nonprofit charity dear to Mike’s heart.  OFNO has undertaken Every Girl Matters campaign to raise $750,000 to build a dormitory and dining hall for 50 girls to protect them from the dangers of human trafficking.  If you would like to donate in memory of Mike, please click on the link below.  Your donation is fully tax deductible.

Matthew 25:40:  I assure you, as often as you did it for one of my least brothers, you did it for me.
